You have to take the boat to get there. It's a hidden place near the highest point of the island.
The island of Spinalonga, also known as the "island of lepers", is a small fortified island. Facing Elounda, in Mirabello Bay, the fort was built by the Venetians, then occupied by the Turks, and the lepers were finally put there. It was they who renovated the fort from 1903 to 1957 during their stay. It's really touching to roam the now abandoned streets of Spinalonga.
