Brava Island was very hard to reach for a long time: limited ferry connections, a brave sea, old ferry boats... Luckily things changed! The best way to reach Brava is by flying to Sal or Boa Vista and taking a day trip to Brava. It is a paradise for hikers!
This location captivated the essence of Brava island: lush green farmlands and breathtaking views on neighbor island Fogo, which has one of the most active volcanoes. Emigration is one of the biggest problems in Brava and several villages are already abandoned. Tourism may thus be an alternative for the future of Brava island.
