The metro only stops a view streets down from park güell. The rest you can walk but the path is steep. Better wear sporty shoes and take a water bottle for the way.
Before or after queuing for the perfect tourist pictures around the mosaic benches it is worth hiking around the park and climbing up higher. Not only do you have an endless view over the city and sea but you also escape the masses for a while
