One can travel to Montserrat by train which one can catch from Espanya rail station. This rail station is on the green and red metro lines making it accessible from any part of Barcelona that has a metro stop. Once at Espanya you will have to look for Line R5 headed towards Manresa.The journey by train takes approximately one hour. Then you can choose between the Cable Car ride (stop: Aeri de Montserrat) or the starting point for the Rack Railway (stop: Cremallera) which are at the foot of Montserrat mountain. For this ride you should add another 23 minutes and then you arrived.
Located high on a rocky mountainside, the Montserrat Monastery was amazing. The views from it are breathtaking and well worth a day of your time while you are in Barcelona. Moreover there are different levels of hiking, which are definitely worth it. Just breathtaking the views you get when you are up there.
